Rehydration Ratios

When creating your own backcountry recipes, it's important to know just how much water it's going to take to rehydrate your dried and powdered foods. Too much and you'll end up with soupy vegetables; too little and your dehydrated meal won't fully rehydrate.

We've put together a comprehensive Rehydration Ratios chart of all of our freeze-dried and dehydrated ingredients to help you determine just how much water you'll need!

This should help you in considering the cooking method that works best with your dish:
  • Cool-Water Cooking
  • Cook-In Bag Meals
  • One-Pot Meals

Here's a preview of what you'll find in our chart:

No Mess Eggs

Everyone loves eggs in the morning but scrubbing a frying pan after breakfast is no fun at all. We weren't willing to compromise on the flavor of our egg dishes by moving to lackluster just-add-water pre-cooked eggs but we found something just as good - boilable bags!

TexMex Breakfast TacoMix your migas or breakfast tacos in a boilable bag, submerge it in a pot of boiling water and, voilĂ  - perfectly cooked eggs without the mess! Bonus - you can use the leftover hot water to make your morning cuppa joe.

Boilable bags are sold separately, but we have included instructions on each label for preparing eggs in a boilable bag.
