Camp Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry sauce, to me, is one of the most important components of the Thanksgiving meal and I just couldn’t imagine turkey-day without it. We whipped up a quick and easy cranberry sauce using dehydrated cranberries that works really well on the trail.
Here’s what you’ll need: Combine all ingredients in a small pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 8 minutes or until the cranberries start looking a little saucy (Note: it will appear somewhat soupy, but will thicken once cooled). Eat warm or allow to cool for a thicker sauce.Makes: ¼ cup cranberry sauce
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteAdding juice (OJ or pomegranate) in place of the water is absolutely delicious. If you can find a powdered solution for the juice that will reduce the weight (if I remember correctly you have pomegranate juice). We often take a small juice box if we aren't too concerned about weight. I add a little bit of cracked black pepper too.
Dried orange peel works well also added (you don't need much! 1/4 tsp per serving is plenty).
ReplyDeleteAs well, True Orange powder works nicely (which Packit carries).
